Disciplines of Discipleship: The Way They Should Go

It seems futile to discuss the myriad of ways to go and methods of training offered to reach those destinations of this world. Because those ways and training lead us to the same place, no more than grasping for the wind. As soon as we arrive to take hold, it vanishes away. So my desire is to discuss the required training of those who have been born again of God so that we all together arrive to an inheritance, that is imperishable, undefiled, and does not fade away.

As a newborn requires care, so also the newborn of God requires help. We need someone to feed us, wash and cleanse us, and clothe us. His eyes are upon His people continually, from the beginning of the year to the end of the year. He who keeps His people does not sleep nor slumber. He does build a hedge around His own. He is our shield who surrounds us, so that no one nor anything can enter unless it is for good. For all things are from Him, through Him, and for Him. And His desire is for our good. It is His good pleasure to give us His kingdom which is righteousness, peace, and joy in His Holy Spirit. Unless the Lord build the house, those that build, build in vain. It is God who builds all things and we are His building. Though He ascended into heaven with all power and authority, He did give and provide for us gifts. Some of those gifts are apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers. Any so-called ministry is only of the true ministry if it is from Him and is an extension of the One True Ministry from above. We can have a sense of the genuineness of any ministry if we can observe its focus is to edify and equip the saints for the work of the ministry. If we are in Him, then we are members of His body. Then if all are members of the same body, then we are all ministers together of His Ministry, to preach the Good News(redemption and restoration) found in Jesus, our Great God and Savior. The intent and purpose of these gifts is to establish us Him and His Word so that we will no longer be as children who are susceptible to be tossed about by false teaching and doctrines that can cause us to drift and fall away.

These gifts are given from Him to us so that in and through them we will be taught, learn, and practice the disciplines of discipleship. For by them, His servant is warned and keeping them there is great reward. Hopefully the next time we can discuss who can teach and what must be taught.
